Looking for a FREE program to monitor when someone is calling you on dial up

Just went through 46 pages of programs on download.com to find software for my mom to monitor when someone is calling you while connected on dial up. I found a few that were free for 30 days or so then required you to buy. Was hoping maybe some of you knew of any that were free or maybe a supplemental program part of another free software program.

 

What exactly do you mean by monitor? You mean record the conversation? or you mean let you know who is calling?

 

I mean I want the program to tell you if someone is trying to call while youre online.

If the computer is equipped with a V.92 modem then it may have the capability already. Try looking in the control panel for a "Modem on Hold" feature. Even if the computer is so equipped, the phone company must also be providing the "Caller ID" and "Call Waiting" services for the "Modem on Hold" feature to work.

 

Back when I was on dial-up, you didn't get any notice.
Connection was simply cut so the incoming call would get through.
Glad I went to cable.
