I'm looking for a free clipboard manager for windows xp that will allow collecting
multiple entries into the system clipboard which can then be copied as a complete block.

Ditto clipboard manager looks like it may be a good choice.

ClipMate seems to have caused compatibility problems for some people
    (MG forums).

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks :)

    Hi

Ditto is very good, so well worth you testing it out to see if it fits your criteria, but also try out PasteCopy as it also is a good free clipboard manager, plus is that its also a portable application so you can add it to a USB pen to use on any PC that accepts your USB pen.

I use ClipDiary at Clipdiary 2.7
    http://majorgeeks.com/Clipdiary_d5344.html

You can save the last 10, 100, 1000, 2000 or whatever you set the figure to.
I even purchased the $$$ version I liked it so much.

I use it daily with about 30 clips to compile my daily post at:-
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=216932 (for June)
and wouldn't be without it. You can save your clips at any time, or clear them if you want to.

    Hope this helps.

Do any of the clipboard utilities mentioned here do this?

I've used M8 Free Multi Clipboard with Win XP for several years. But, it will not paste multiple saved entries as a complete block.

    Yes

[note: I did this with plain text; no images or anything]

I have just installed Ditto and just begun to get familiar with it.

Ditto can do this by putting selected entries into a group and then opening that group,
selecting all of the entries in the group and then initiating a paste.

The entire group can be set to 'Never Auto Delete' so that it is retained
    in the database indefinitely.

A time limit of XX number of days can be set as a global? config option
so that individual entries older than that will be removed from the database.
A maximum number of entries to retain can also be set via configuration.

Entries marked as 'Never Auto Delete' will not be removed.

A Getting Started page has Key Bindings at the end
which shows how to create Groups.

The Configuration Help explains how to set this up under the heading Options -> General.

    @usafveteran
I'm still going to check out M8, but I think Ditto will do what I want.

    Thanks
