Looking for point to point chat software

    Not sure if the explanation is correct but I'm trying to find out if there is a chat program available that can be installed on two PC's that will allow the users of the machines to chat with each other and nobody else. Not looking for msn or yahoo messenger types apps, just beyond basic chat between 2 users.

    If they are on the same network there is some LAN chat available. We used it in our offices for a while. I think it worked office to office where the VPN was connected too.
