Looking to bye a gaming video card right now i am using a G Force FX 5200 works just fine but kinda slow for online gaming i was thinking of going with ATI off of new egg but dont want to spend a whole lot of cash on a new card most likely the range is between 50 and 100 any ideas would be help full. The main reason i want to switch video card is be cause my on board graphics don't work all that well with online games i bought computer off of ebay.for like 75 but i can play pretty much any thing on this computer has a 2.26 pentium 4 cpu has 2gigs of ram and a TB hard drive it was a work computer when i first got it.Its a Dell Optiplex GX 260 model its a slim case so i cant really add to much to it.Like i said it was a work computer and its pretty fast the way i have it set up.

Based on what I see at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx260/en/ug/sffagp.htm#1131598, you have an AGP slot. So, AGP is the way to go for a video card, not PCI. If you're in the U.S., I'll suggest newegg.com as a source. You can see their AGP cards at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ption=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&srchInDesc=

I'm not an online gamer so I don't want to get into specific card recommendations. Of course, spending at the higher end of your budget will probably get you the best card within your budget.

I'm sure avid gamers would tell you your machine is not a good gaming machine. It's just too old. But, I guess you want to get some more life out of it and, if you're generally satisfied with it's gaming performance, the video ccard would surely yield noticeable improvement over the onboard video.

Now when you say that it has a slim case, you need to be sure that it can accommodate a full height card. You may be limited as to what you can get if the case will only handle a low profile card. Just a thought you might need to consider. ;)

When i mean a slim case it can lay flat or stand up right but i prefurr it sitting on its side heck this computer can play most games with my G force FX 5200 card the i am going to build a new pc soon i mean this won works great in most cases for the price i got it on Ebay 75 hey you cant go wrong i was being cheap when i went to ebay.

Not sure what version of Windows you're running; however to be on the safe side I would stick with an NVIDIA based card.

ATI is still having some phantom driver issues (esp. in Win 7 64-bit); sticking with NVIDIA should make setup a bit easier. Given you're not putting it into an extreme gaming PC it's doubtful you'll notice any speed or quality difference using ATI over NVIDIA.

Golden, if you are interested in an ASUS EAH3870 X2 1GB Dual GPU card, PM me. I switched to Nvidia for Folding.

Please note, this is one large GPU! I would recommend a full size case...

I only have this to add - I have an ASUS P4P800SE board I built my current "main" PC around almost 6 years ago. It's also a P4 based board, running a 3.0E hyper-threaded processor. Intel chipset.

My last big upgrade was a Powercolor HD3850 256bit AGP video card . . . it made a heck of a difference in my system; so a modern video card is certainly a worthwhile upgrade for you. I am able to play WoW and such games at fairly high settings.

Like was stated, make sure your case has room for a full size card - also, some cards (like my 3850) require a connection to the computer's power supply . . . make sure your power supply has enough wattage for whatever card you buy. Also, I wouldn't settle for a card with less then a 128bit memory interface.

Good luck card hunting! I love upgrades . . . but I think the 3850 will be the last for my computer. It still does what I need it to do. I ran some tests on it, and my nephews dual-core system . . . and my old faithfull held its own! But, - it is getting very outdated.

Um ok Windows Xp pro is what i use sorry for got to say that
Ok i think my G force Fx 5200 is a full size card its not a slim card and i can fit in the pci slot but i have to leave my case open be cause like i said it sits on it side i mean i could stand it up but it would look dumb.i really don't have too much of space in this case.If i could just get a slightly better card then my g force 5200 that would make me happy and i do use newegg i buy all of my parts off there.Going to connect TV to computer. As a Double screen system. And its better if i keep my case open a little any way so that it stays cooled.I have a list of cards i can use for a game i play online and would like an idea witch i can use as a PC'I I need to have Open GL to play game.and won that connects with multi monitors and won card's driver is still being up dated.
