my computer is slow and freezes for a while on startup. I ran the diagnostics on it.

    physical memory 1gb
    88% full
    available 115mb

    virtual memory 2.24gb
    available 922mb

I think this is the cause of my problem. Is this correct. if so what ram upgrade do you think necessary?

Hi my friend , welcome to MG's :major

Vista needs at least 2 gb of ram to run properly , go to Start - Run typing msconfig - Ok
go to Startup tab remove ticks except for antivirus - Apply - Ok
Windows asks you to restart your machine - do it
What is your free space in your hdd ? :wave

    Found on Crucial's site.
C700ET "Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot."
C700LA "Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot"

You do not have to buy from Crucial. I do always check the site because they have the details I need when shopping for RAM sticks.

Just remember this: DDR2 (non ECC) PC2-5300 and you can buy anywhere.
