Hi, Ive been working on a job applicationall day. Firstly I downloaded the email attachment with the job application form, I clicked on allow editing and I added in my job application. When I saved the file I just clicke the little save icon (not save as) and when I closed the file it did not prompt me to 'save as' so Im assuming the file still exisits.
Ive done some research and worked out when I downloaded the file originally it just would have opened as a temporary internet file (i clicked open not save) but have searched through all temporary word docs and it doesnt seem to exisit. There is one similar file but it is the unedited version. I don't know where my saved version would have ended up.

Application is due in less than 9:00am in the morning, it is currently 10.30 pm here so I really need to find this file rather than have to start from the begining....

    PLEASE HELP!:cry:cry:cry

You can download one of many freeware file recover tools and look for files that bypassed the Recycle Bin. A good one that many people like is Recuva by Piriform Software. You can download it from MG site at:

Better hurry, you've got less than one hour!

Ok thanks, I have 9 hours but would really like some sleep before I hae to get up for work.

So Im downloading now... fingers crossed it works.
It is really strange because I can locate the same file that has not been edited in temporary internet files, however as soon as I edit and save it will appear but quickly dissapear. So there are a few edited version floating around my computer and impossible to find.

If you have an idea of the file name, you could try to find the file by using:
Everything Search Engine from voidtools. Everything will only search on the file name, but is very fast.

If you want to try and find the file by some of it's content, there is:
    Agent Ransack/FileLocator Lite - MajorGeeks.

Both are handy to have when situations like this occur.

Can you repeat those steps? But, instead of clicking Save, click Save As and make a note of the location, i.e. folder, shown on the screen.

By clicking Save As, the screen will show you the default location and give you the option to navigate to a different folder.
