lost connections

Hi,
A friends computer in Spain has a strange problem.
it is running Windows xp home edition , 256 meg ram , adsl.
The problem is that it is continually getting a "Lost connection lnetwork cable disconnected Area 7" Is this likely to be just a Spanish fault?
Computer in question is on the edge of area.

Even on holiday thse things haunt you !

Edit the fault has just reoccurred the exact wording is :-

Local area connection 7 network cable has come unplugged.

Within as short time everything is back to normal.

Any Ideas??

 

doesnt have a wireless adaptor, does it? Just ive seen somthing simelar when in a city, lots of wireless networks just out of range occasionally it thinks that its plugged into one of them... maybe its that?

EDIT : i thought that windows would know if it was wireless and wouldnt say a cable has been unpluged.....

Frequencey of fault varies daily.

 

whats the ADSL attached via? usb? or ethernet? Tried checking the cable between the 2?

 

once again txs. Connection is Usb.


Waited until fault occurred and wriggled cable , and normal service resumed, but will see if it occurs again , and will try cable again.
Modem is a "Telefonica"- - - any comments?

BTW writing this from our friends holiday villa, so not really able to pull things to pieces!!
