    hi guys,
i'm having some problems. I was working on the computer and got blue screened. when i rebooted, the system stopped recognizing my 2 cd/dvd drives. i shut down, unplugged the drives and rebooted- then shutdown plugged em in again and rebooted... still nothin.

i switched ide cables around on the mother board connection and the system still reads the 2 hard drives on the other ide cable. i unplugged one of the drives and put it on the master for the hard drive cable and booted and had access to the cd drive. any ideas? can an ide cable go bad?

    thanks

maybe not the cable, but the ide channel could be bad on the mobo. try putting the hd on the other cable to see if it reads the drives.

sorry read that wrong...sounds like you might want to get a new cable, if they work the other way around. also, do the same for the other cd rom to make sure that's not the culprit.
