   Cleaning up my hard drive and I have now lost internet connectivity. Internet Explorer gives error message " Application failed because custstat.dll was not found.Re installing may fix"
   But I don't know what application relates to custstat.dll or hor to install a .dll.
   
   Help would be appreciated

   Use a restore point before you started cleaning. You probably removed something you should not have. It is easier to restore than to try and find a clean "custstat.dll " file on the internet.

   Next, let a program like CCleaner slim http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html
   do the cleaning.
   It is better to have some extra things lurking than to remove one vital thing that is needed as you discovered.
