Strangest thing... Our 11 and a half year old Dalmatian died this afternoon. She was playing in the yard with my daughter running circles (still full of energy at that age) and she ran into the wooden fence and didn't get up. I heard her hit and thought it was my daughter slamming the shed door. Tried CPR and rushed to the vet, but no joy, guessing she had a major heart attack or broke her neck when she hit. We got her in when we were stationed in Guam. We'll miss her.

My condolences. I lost my dog a couple of months ago. It's always a sad time.

So sorry! How are the kids taking it? Usually pretty hard on them when the dog has been around most or all of their lives. :(

Dalmations have so much passionate, happy energy, sometimes to the point of no regard for their own health. When I worked at an animal hospital, it happened more than once that the dalmations were so excited about seeing the staff (go figure) that they would wag their tails violently in the hallway to the exam room. They'd bang it against the wall, break open the tip and keep wagging spraying blood all over the place. Never happened with any other breed, just the dalmations. I learned to take an extra minute out in the waiting room greeting them so they were calmer while walking down the hall.

Sorry for your loss, i lost my female Dalmation to liver cancer on 6/5 and her brother had a heart attack about 4 years ago.

They were GREAT dogs but i'm done with animals for awhile now.

Thanks all, we're just so stunned on how it could happen that quick and in such a way. The daily routine is much different now, so many things included her. Kid was okay yesterday, today is the big test as she goes back to school, many of her classmates knew Rogue too.

    Thanks again.
