lost speaker icon (vol control) on task bar

not sure how i managed to do it but somehow i've managed to loose 2 icons on my task bar and cant seem to find them or get them back : speaker icon for windows soundcard mixer, and the "safe to remove hardware" icon. here's what i've done so far: 1) on speaker icon - control panel / sounds and audio devices / volume tab / ticked the box that says "place vol icon in the task bar". 2) opened taskbar and start menu dialog box / click customize / (here it shows past items and current items. i can see both the lost icons in the past items list, but don't know how to retrieve them"

any help greatly app

 

From a command window run:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

This will bring up the add remove wizard. When I did this, it put the icon back in my task bar as soon as I removed my USB drive.
