I read teh other day in MG that someone had lost their Windows CD. "AS IF!", I thought. How could you lose your CD??!!
Now I've lost mine. Bother!!! :( :-o Spent all day looking for it.
Does anyone know where it is or what I should do to find it?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

PS I have a clean-up wife, three non-clean-up kids and lots of boxes.

    1. Stop looking for it. Sure as you stop you may run across it.

    2. You have kids, Well offer some cash and or a cool reward for the first one to find it. Maybe like a week of no chores, or something like that.

    3. Blame the wife and see what you can get for the guit. (That one is a joke I am only kidding )

    2. They want to know what chores are.
    3. Oops. Should have read teh brackets before speaking.

PS Is it true that a cold steak helps a black eye? :cool :cry

Well you could image your drive, myself I use ghost everyone else like acronis or whatever its called.

Windows 7 will be out pretty soon as a die hard xp user and skipping vista it sure looks like the next os to use.

You may give linux a shot its free. Myself like ubuntu. Or you could just buy another copy of xp. I see newegg still has it and I am sure someone can point you to the best and cheepest place.

I have been thinking of Ubuntu - I have the CD. Need it to work on wireless broadband however - tried it yesterday - needs some work, I think. Other thing is, it's for a computer I'm putting together for my parents. I would like to be able to access their computer remotely. Not sure if Ubuntu will do that.
Just remembered, another thing is I'm putting it on an 8 GB HDD. Not enough room for Ubuntu. They're very light users. I could put Ub on that HDD and give them another small HDD for their personal files, I s'pose.
    Thanks for the suggestions

If your hard drive has an "i386" folder, you can build yourself an XP disc from it. I've done this before and it was a royal pain-in-the-you-know-what. But since then, I have found this guide that walks you through the process. Maybe it will help!
    Good luck!!!
    :-D

Thanks dlb. I'll have a look. As for the other matter, my I-know-what is already much pained from looking for that wretched CD. It's brand new and still in teh plastic wrapper!!!!
    Edit: no i386 folder. :(
