Hello everyone :) I used to come here often for help and always got the answer I needed, so here I am again.

My dad has an old laptop that has all of his contacts in it, with Lotus Organizer Version 2.12. It has over 2,000 pages of contacts in it.

Recently, he bought a new laptop with Windows 7. (old laptop is XP)

Lotus Organizer is not compatible with Win 7, so we can't transfer that way.
I've tried to open it with Excel, I've saved it to the USB so that I can put the file on the new desktop and tried to open it with everything I could think of, and can't do it. The only thing I can do is enter each and every contact into a new address book one by one, or print the old contacts which will take a couple ink replacements and paper runs.

Anyone know how I can convert this stinking OR2 file into something that can be opened with Excel, Word, Access, ANYTHING in Office?

Suggestions are welcome, this is annoying as hell.

Yes, the file type is OR2 not ORG. I tried a few file conversion utilities, didn't work. Including the one that you had sent me, thank you for that. I tried OpenOffice too... but I'm still at a loss.

I was able to save it as a txt file, USB it, and put it on the desktop... so I opened the txt file in Excel but all of the commas and other symbols make it impossible to read one contact to the next.

    Hello,
Can you export your contacts as a CSV file and then open it in Open Office?

I can save it as a .txt and it opens in excel and word and everywhere but there are """" etc all over and you can't tell what goes with what.

I tried to dl open office but it wouldnt install, so I am taking the file to my desktop at home and going to see what I can do with it there.

Does this version allow to save the file with a vcf extension?

What you have is probably a comma delimited text file or a tab separated file text file. When you open it, do you see commas separating the entries? See if this works.

    In Outlook,
    Select File
    Select Import and Export
In the Wizard dialog box, select Import from another program or file
Select Comma Separated Values (DOS) (you may also try Windows) and Next
    Select Browse button
    Select your file
    Then open
