    Hi,

I've just built a brand spankin new system with Vista Ultimate x64, one which I'm pretty sure should earn a perfect score with the WEI, but it's only getting a score of 3.7...actually everything is 5.9(is that perfect score?) except for graphics, which I got 3.7 and gaming graphics, which I got 4.4

    My system is as follows:
    DFI X48 w/intel Q9450
    2x2GB DDR2-800
    9800GTX 512MB
    2xSamsung F1 1TB HDD
    Samsung SATA DVD burner
    A couple of older drives
    FSP Epsilon 600W PSU

I've installed the latest nvidia vista graphics drivers, and the intel INF drivers, so I'm not sure why I'm still getting such a low score? I've also tried checking BIOS to see if PCI-E was somehow not set to 16X, but I couldn't find a setting to change.

    Hi

Yes 5.9 is the perfect score for now, this WEI scoring system may change and go over 6 when newer hardware is released to acount for its power. The best info on WEI scores around here from Nick White, but dont take too much stock in the WEI score as its a rough guide to performance and not a full benchmark test, real world usage is better than any benchmark, so if the PC performs and does what you want then you built the perfect PC. Think the only part on mine that lowers mine to 5.5 is CPU a Intel C2D all others are 5.9s but not worth the update as the PC works great and runs all the software used.

But to your GFX Card, I would uninstall drivers, then pull the card out, then re-install it, the power cables ( iirc it has 2 ) to it and then install the drivers again.

Did you install the Intel chipset drivers from DFI's driver list or from Intel themselves, I persoanally would have only installed the ones from the motherboard maker as they are tested to work for compatability with that board.

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be a loose PCI-e power connector problem. I could've sworn I plugged them in firmly...but oh well...
