Upon review of my port usage I see that I have the LSA Shell. Most of my friends who have it just block it with their firewall. I on the other hand am using 56k and can't afford to lose the bandwidth. How do I get rid of the LSA Shell.

How do you get rid of the LSA shell?

    --You don't.

Instead, you get rid of the virus attacking it.

Then, get your updates, a good firewall and antivirus.
    1. Remove and protect yourself from reinfection until you can get updates: http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser_printxp.mspx
    2. Updates-- windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    3. Firewall and antivirus-- Look on the front page of Majorgeeks, under the Files section.
    4. Stay up to date in the future.

Normally i do stay up to date and i don't know how i missed this one. Maybe it is with my current windows update which is bundled with sp2 and is taking for ever to download. My anti-virus is always updated also.

I updated windows (except for sp2), I ran a complete virus scan with my fully updated Norton anti-virus, and i've downloaded the sygate firewall. It says that the Generic host process for win32 services is what's raping my bandwidth. What is this, what does it do, and why might it be using up so much of my bandwidth even when my computer is completly idle.
