Working my daughters compaq laptop. Get error messege, lsass.exe system error Object name not found. All I can do is click ok which starts the reboot cycle again. Safe mode and last known config, no help, same problem.

I do not have the recovery CD but am able to boot with limited functions with BART PE CD. Ran several up to date virus programs, including the Stinger. All comes back clean. This happened a bout 6 months ago and I reformatted. Not that is not an option because she "misplaced" the recovery CD.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very appreciated. Oh, os is XP, SP1. Thanks

With Bart PE CD you should be able to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents XP from starting. Check out here Good luck
