Hi, when i try to start my lab top it gives me the message, lsass.exe Operation Failed. Then it says something about it being unsucessful. The only option is to click the OK, but the Ok just restarts the lab top then it keeps going back and forth. Can someone help me fix this?

i was told to post here from the hardware forum.

Was XP pre-installed? If so, it's now standard practice for the manufacturer to create a recovery partition on the hard drive. If you power down and then switch on, there's usually one particular function key you need to press during POST, varying with the manufacturer - often it's F11. You'll need to check your manual.

Once you've accessed the recovery partition, you should have an option for nondestructive recovery - although this depends on what's gone wrong and how badly. If the option appears but is greyed out, then something serious is wrong and you may have to go for complete recovery.

Is your computer still in warranty? If not, you could unship the hard drive, install it temporarily in another computer as a slave drive, pull everything off you want to keep, then put it back and perform a complete recovery.

If you have the full xp cd ...you could also try a repair install.

If you do recover ...then you need to do the Read and Run First sticky and attach the requested logs.

Post is the system startup prior to the operating system loading ...it is when you can access safe mode or get into the bios or chose to boot into the recovery partition. You should see an option to hit f11 or f12 .....

What do you mean it doesn't do anything?

    Wordy xp repair install:

If you mean that it doesn't start up from the CD ..then you have to enter the Bios (also an option when you first start up ) and set the startup sequence to have the cd be the first choice .....

Alternatively, you may have to take it back to where you purchased it if you are unable to get anything to run.:(
