"Microsoft Corp. is giving computer users up to 500 megabytes of online storage for their documents, music, photos and video. They're offering it to a select 5,000 test users for now, but will make it widely available later this summer. This move is the latest in a series by the previous large corporation we all loved to hate to compete with the newest large corporation we might hate and fear, Google."

500 MB, the wow starts now, that is just a few hundred short of what will fit on a CD. I never liked the idea of storing my files on line anyway.

Very handy option to store files online, saves carrying and portable devices around, wouldnt store personal data as in bank account stuff on their but you can have private and shared folders.

*not a new idea as iBackup and Gmail Drive ( although a 3rd party app as Google dont have their online storage drive service ready yet ) have been available already, plus some others like 4share etc but this one has some good options, if your willing to open your blinkered eyes.

Also at same time was released Windows Live Photo Gallery http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/w...27/announcing-windows-live-photo-gallery.aspx

Microsoft haters wont like either option, but I happen to be one of the invited 5000, whos willing to give it a go before judging.

Exactly! I am not a fan of AOL but I do keep an extensive playlist on Xdrive (5GB Free) and can access it anywhere.

Xdrive as listed by Evil is 5GB ;)

But the Live Folder is still beta, a testing phase will go on with lower space as did Googles GMail in it being 1GB to start with, then once capacities are tested and new server storage is built the space allowed increases, have to say once MS release this to general use, I wonder what the user base for Live Folders vs Dinno will be?
