    Hello
I have Win 10 and have made "Mail" the default desktop client. Still in MSIE 11 under file, 'send' still has send link or page grayed out. How can fix this?
    Thank You

I think it's a bug peter. I have Mail set as the default app but have Thunderbird installed too. However Send still calls Thunderbird, not Mail.

I thought I was making progress as I did the following; right click on the command bar>customize>select link/page and add it to the right side box..
Make 'Mail the default - still gray.
Bernie, can you recommend a client other than Thunderbird as I find it difficult; I have surfed and seen Inky and Claws etc. but have no idea which would be straight forward.
I remember asking you before but forgot if you had luck with any of them

Eldon often recommends a mail client he says is very straightforward but I can't remember its name. You could PM him for it.

I am studying pro vs free - thanks for the referral & Pro great for the businessman. May be a bit too much for the average user.

@ Bernie - I am in a MS forum and the person there says Mail is not a client.

    Do you believe that?

I can accept that. It appears to communicate directly with the server and does not, as far as I can see, keep your emails or headers on your computer as does a client. I was roaming in India recently and my mail folders on my phone had to be synced before displaying my previous messages - not good if you have limited data. That's a benefit of having a real IMAP client installed too. I like Mail though, much nicer to use on my PC and laptop than any client I have had.

EDIT - client or not peter, as the default mail app it should still respond when you use Send so still a bug imo.

I agree with you- configured properly it should respond as a client. The best they could offer was to use Win - H.
And I also agree that Mail is a good deal; I can bring it up anytime and it functions well.

    Win - H, something else about 10 I didn't know

    peterr,
If you are going to consider EssentialPIM...
Forget about Pro. It has to many features even for a home business. And it costs $$.
I have used the free edition for more than 10 years and it's everything I need. Keep in mind it's not an email client - it's a Personal Information Manager that includes an email client.

I use POP3 and all my Outlook Mail & Yahoo Mail emails are received on my PC. When not connected to the internet, I can read all those emails that have been received.

That said, I agree with Earthling, something is wrong with IE11 having those 2 Send options grayed.

Thanks a lot Eldon, your information is very helpful. So I may use functions other than email but the main idea is I still can get imap and pop3, and it is a mail client.

I am not going to play with explorer 11 and I only use Chrome and Edge, Chrome mostly.

    Thanks both.

    Yes.
You decide whether to use POP3 or IMAP. With POP3, when you delete emails in the client, they are not deleted in your email provider, and vice versa, if you selected to 'keep a copy of the email on the server' in the webmail. You also can't sync folders you created in your webmail.
    IMAP is the better option.
