I downloaded the Steven Hawkings Nature Bee m4a and listened to it on myy VLC Player. One thing I dislike about VLC is I have to reinstall it a lot.

It began crashing on me last night so I updated it (Checking the option to clear cache and preferences) and it once again worked perfectly.

If all else fails, download Foobar 2000:

It's an amazing audio player and there are tons of plug-ins for it.

Have you tried the portable version? I run mine from a USB stick so I don't install it.

I just fired up my older portable version as was able to play the clip.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

If the above suggestions don't help, you might be able to d/l the file and convert it: I've used M4a to MP3 Converter with pretty good success.

so the clip sounds like HUMAN BEINGS to you three?

i have no problem "playing" it, per se, but it comes out as some weird, MECHANIZED SPEECH type sound. hence my first post.

Doesn't sound like any human being I've ever heard - except, maybe Stephen Hawking...;)

The file plays fine through Firefox with me - no player needed. But, yes - it does sound really weird.

There are programs available with which you may be able to slow down or speed up the frequencies, change the pitch, etc. of the file.

ok, so now we're getting somewhere -- the clip is actually LIKE that?! and not a prob w player/playback etc?

some kind of satire, i suppose?

    over my head, tho.

    :confused

It is a synthesized voice and not a normal person talking. Is that what caused the confusion?
