A software vendor would like me to try a trial version of their software. They have asked me for the "Mac address (xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx) and hostID of my computer". How do I go about finding them so I can give them the information they are requesting from me?

    Hi

The MAC address is a hardware identification number of a network adapter. If you go into your command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes (notice the space between ipconfig, and /all), and press Enter, it will display all of your network adapters and information about each of them. Look for one that doesn't say "media disconnected" (you'll likely have to scroll up) and has an IPV4 address at least. The MAC address is called the "Physical Address" in IPConfig. It is a hexadecimal number that is in the following format: F5-D4-2E-55-1A-4A.

The MAC address is also usually the Host ID.

Thank you for the help. I sent the information off to the software company and hopefully it's what they need.
