MAC Address change w/Windows HP

I just purchased a new HP computer that has a wireless NIC MAC address beginning with a 9. Unfortunately, my WR850G Motorola router won't take an address such as this (my other MAC addresses from wireless devices begin with a 0).

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and am looking for something that will change or otherwise 'spoof' my MAC so I can get my laptop onto my home network without having to drop the MAC requirement.

Anyone know of any utilities that will take a change such as this and keep it static? I'm not interested in routinely changing the MAC, just coming up with a number that will allow it to go onto my network. Motorola hasn't been much help here and claims they're not supporting this router with firmware upgrades any longer but the router has been great in all aspects and I hate to shell out the bucks for a new router and go through the hassles of getting everything functional on my network again.

Just trying to max out protection. I've used MAC filtering and WPA successfully for several years on my home network. Hate to have to choose between purchasing a new router and dropping MAC now because of this issue with the router not taking a newer MAC (90 vs 00).

 

Yeah, that's a good point. And an 802.11n WOULD be cool... Wonder how much NIC replacement or driver updating would be required to get the best out of everything connected to the router? I'll have to do some reading on that.
