OK, short and sweet. I have no knowledge of Macs and no desire to sit on hold for tech support. I found an Apple MacBook (MB062LL/A-80G Notebook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz 13.3" 1GB Memory DDR2 667 80GB HDD 5400rpm DVD-ROM Intel GMA950) for a good price used to replace my POS Toshiba Satellite. I just put a new HDD (Western Digital Scorpio Black wd5000bpkt 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive) in the Toshiba as well as some RAM.

Is this HDD compatible with the Mac. I am not a fan of the 80Gb HDD in the Mac but if I can add the one from my Toshiba it would be much better.

I am pretty sure the RAM isn't compatible but any info there is appreciated as well.

It's go this route or attempt to change the capacitor on the motherboard of my Toshiba which is above my pay grade.

    Cheers

Should work fine. The hard disks are basically the same but they use different file systems so you will have to format it and wipe all data. As long as you can afford to loose the data give it a go and see what happens
