I install this game and it runs fine for a couple days. Then I start getting an error when starting the program. I keep getting the "MAINAPP.exe cannot start and will shut down." What can I do to fix this?? It's frustrating, I don't want to have to re-install it every couple days.

If it used to run fine, it would suggest that you've installed or changed something that has affected the setup of the game.
Madden 06 is a Safedisk 4 game, which may cause problems if you have installed Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120 or another virtual drive program. Do you have anything like this installed?

What is safe disk? I have not changed anything.

Safedisc is copyright protection software. It can in some cases conflict with other software such as Daemon or Clone CD or Alcohol.
So you have not installed or changed ANYTHING since you started playing the game? It just stopped working suddenly?

It plays fine for a little while, then I get that error and have to re-install to use it again.

No, I don't have safe disk, alchohol or clone cd. I do have daemon tools though, but that's the only program like that. I'm not using any kind of crack or anything either, just entered the registration.

Let me rephrase from my last post. It is not downloaded, I bought this game. I re-installed again yesterday and it hasn't done it yet, but I am sure it will.

When I said I have Daemon Tools, I didn't mean I am using it, just that it is installed. I used it before on a POS game that never worked to begin with. Plus it isn't running either, I don't know if that makes a difference...

It's perfectly legal software to own anyway. I had similar trouble with Daemon tools and The Sims 2. In the end I had to uninstall Daemon tools, and use a registry cleaner to remove any traces of it before I could get the bloody game to work.
What you could try is a program called "sd4hide" (google it) which masks Daemon etc.
Also, make sure you have up to date drivers for your graphics card etc.

    New Problem...

Now I have to reset my controller config every time I play. Is there any way to save it so I don't have to change it back every time? It's kinda frustrating having to pause every game to reset all this. TIA

BTW Steeev, I haven't had any more problems with that since :crossing fingers: so thanks for the help, and if I have a problem again I will refer back to this thread.:)
