Madden 2005 Constantly Hanging on Install - Help?

I'm tearing my hair out trying to get Madden 2005 installed on my PC. It consistently hangs as soon as I put in the third and final CD to complete the install process.

I know it's not the CD, as I tried installing it on my wife's vastly inferior computer, and, of course, it installed perfectly.

We both have WinXP Home Edition, but she has SP 1 and I have SP 2, if that has anything to do with it. I've tried all the troubleshooting tips I could find on EA's home page - updated the InstallShield engine, cleaned out the temporary folder, used "Crap Cleaner" from this site to clean my machine...still does exactly the same thing, every time.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this hang? Conversely, is there any way to manually install the game? Thanks....

My moneys on SP2; First day I had it installed i removed it since i was bombarded with programs not running properly and my internet going all fuzzy on me for no reason. I uninstalled a few hours later and everything went back to normal.

Try copying the third CD to the hard drive and when the point comes up asking you to insert it, redirect it to the hard drive folder you made.

I had to do this with Star Wars Battlefront (now there is a game with install problems!). Hopefully that will help.

Thanks for your help, guys. I tried uninstalling SP 2, but the problem persisted. I then decided to copy the offending CD onto another disc and I used it as the install disc when the time came. Problem solved. :)

Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

I'm having the same problem. I tried a recommended solution which was to copy the disk to the HD and redirect the install to that location when it prompts to insert the third disk. No problem until I realized I can't figure out how to redirect to another location. There is only a Ok and a cancel button on the window that pops up with the prompt. The ok does nothing if you don't have the disk inserted and the cancel, (go figure) cancels the entire install and rolls it back. How did you get it to redirect?? Thanks, -matt

I saw that same post and couldn't figure that out either. What I did was just make a disc copy of all the contents on disc 3 and then, when the install asked me to insert disc 3, I put in my copy. Worked great. Good luck.
