My problem is that when I get to the part just following the Directory for the install, when I am supposed to enter the serial/key... The dialog box for entering the serial never pops up! I get the hourglass cursor for a second, then it goes back to norm... and nothing pops up. I wait for a while and nothing happens. My system exceeds the min requirements, all my drivers are updated. I just installed NHL 2005 and it runs great, i'm stumped, never had this problem before.

I just tried to install Madden 2004 and I get the same problem, thats wierd, I had Madden 2004 installed on my computer, then I uninstalled it before I tried to install Madden 2005, now 2004 won't reinstall. I just installed NHL 2005, and Tiger Woods 2005 no problem with either game. Anybody have any ideas?

I think there are some files from the Madden 2004 uninstall that are getting in the way of installing Madden 2005. I'm not saying that it's for sure the problem but it might be. That might be why NHL 2005 and Tiger Woods 2005 work and Madden 2005 doesn't; something to do with the uninstall of Madden 2004.

To make sure you have a clean install do the following:

Use Add/Remove to uninstall Madden 2005 and Madden 2004. Sounds like you already have.

Manually search your computer to see if Add/Remove missed some files and folders. Add/Remove doesn't always remove everything.

Once that's done download and use a program, from Major Geeks, that deletes useless files clogging up your computer. If you already have such a program, good, use it. If you don't, go to the Major Geeks home page and download one.

Now use a program that cleans your computers registry keys. If you already have one use it, it not, again, download one from Major Geeks.

Now that your computer is clean of all Madden files you should be able to install the game without any problems. I think this SHOULD work because you said that you previously install Madden 2004 without any problems.

If this doesn't solve the problem there are other things to do but try this firs.

    Thanks ColonelAngus,

Using the CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) seems to have done the trick, thanks again this is greatly appreciated, the game rocks!!!

Do you have the EXACT same problem? With Madden 2005?

If so, if not, whatever. Detail and explain your problem anyway.

The only thing i can think of is that the min processor speed requirement for Madden 2005 is 800 MHz and i am running a Pentium 3 800 MHz system. I'm using windows 2000 service pack 4 and all my drivers are updated.

Some of these questions might sound stupid but they're worth asking.

Is the installation screen in fullscreen mode when you are installing? (I hope that makes sense) When you are waiting for the serial/key dialog box and it never shows up it might be behind the fullscreen installer screen. That is if you get a fullscreen when installing. You might just have to shrink the screen to see the dialog box that might be behind it. Just press the Windows Button below the Z key on the keyboard if you can't manualy shrink it like a webpage. It's a long shot but it might be that simple.

What happens after the serial key dialog box doesn't show up? Does your computer lockup or can you still move your cursor arrow?

Have you tried installing the game in a different directory?

    Do you have enough RAM?

Do you have enough space on your computer to install the game?

No the installation screen is not in full mode.

The dialog box for entering the serial never pops up! I get the hourglass cursor for a second, then the screen goes back to normal.

Yes i've tried installing in another directory.

    Yes I have enough RAM.

Yes I have enough HD space.

Have you tried installing it on a different computer? Maybe a friends or family members. Just to see if the same thing happens.

Other than that I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe there is something wrong with the disk itself. Try exchanging it for another one at the store you bought it from and see if the same thing happens.

Sorry I couldn't help fix your problem. :(

I don't get as far as these other people. When I click on the install button from the start-up menu it just drops straight back to the desktop. I clicked on Start, then Run and ran setup.exe off the CD and the same thing happened.

I don't have Madden 2004, but I did have Madden 2003 installed. I un-installed it, then manually cleaned up the directory, then ran Crap Cleaner and a registry cleaner, but that didn't do any good.

I have a P4 1.9 ghz with 1 mb RAM with Windows XP & 15 gb available on the HD. Any idea on what I can try next? Is it maybe just a bad CD?
