Lately, say the past 2 weeks or so, my computer has been going beyond slow! I am not getting any types of pop ups or anything, but my internet browser will take anywhere from about 30 to a full minute to open a page even though I have DSL. I ran my highjack log and was amazed at how long it was, becuase I dont remember it ever having so many files. Any help would be appreciated in possibly explaining why my computer is going so slowly, like whether I have a virus or some other problem. Thanks so much!

    my log....

Edit by chaslang: Inline log attached

thanks again for all the help!

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please do not post any logs inline especially HJT logs.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Was your previous reference point before or after installing all the Symantec stuff?

Note: C:\Program Files\BigFix\BigFix.exe has been known to be a tremendous resource hog. You should not run this until you need it (if ever) to debug PC problems.

Read the info here about it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/BIGFIX.EXE-568.html

oops, sorry about the second post, I couldn't find this one. I ran the programs but nothing was found or seemed out of the ordinary. I ran highjack list and attached the file to this post. Also the symatech has been on my computer since I have had it, and that has been about 2 years. Thanks for your help.

Sorry but if you don't complete all the steps we cannot be sure of your status. Steps 0 thru 6 must be completed before attaching a HijackThis log (which you did not install properly per step 7).

Here is what I can see you have not run:
    Microsoft Windows Defender
None of step 6 and you must attach the two requested logs.

Was there anything else you did not run! Remember it only affects you in the long run if all steps are not completed.

There are a few things we can fix in you HJT log after the above is completed.

A couple things I would point out:

C:\Program Files\Ares\Ares.exe - not very safe to use and know to contain malware

I would not allow Ares and Bitcomet to load at startup. You should not have them running if you are not actively downloading. They will cause your system to be slow.

And so will C:\Program Files\BigFix\BigFix.exe, as I already mentioned more than a month ago.
