Well, I just freaked out about half the office I think. I don't think they've seen anyone truly aracnophobic.

For some reason  the person in the office next to mine moved in a/some (I didn't go to count them!) tarantulas. She found me about 5 minutes later rigid in my chair, hyperventilating and tears rolling down my face.

They've locked them in the spare meeting room for the rest of today.

    Way to go!

We don't have big ones in Oregon. The ones in the UK are way bigger.

I never even considered someone bringing them into an office....so many people are phobic.

I just can't wait to get out of here now, even though they are locked up.

well, you won't be coming to my house then......we have two, one a male, and of course a female........but, of course we have separate housing for them, don’t need 500 hairy little ones running about.........wobbles

it's any bigger than my pinky nail it meets the boot post haste! I used to have a severe case of aracnophobia. Now it's more like.. "Ok, REALLY BIG SPIDER.. and we walk away.. and we walk away... and we come back with a howitzer.. baby steps to the elevator.. baby steps in the elevator, baby steps ON the spider and .. SQUISH!! like grape :) "

yes, we let them walk up and down my arms, and because I don't have any hair on the top of my head, they like to sit there.......wobbles

Spiders don't bother me at all. I rarely kill them, and if they're not threatening looking I won't bother putting them outside. I've seen the fear of snakes though. When my daughters were about eight and six, I was out walking with them on a trail at a lake, Cassie the youngest beside me, and Shawna behind a couple of paces. A small gartersnake slithered out of the grass onto the trail in front of us. Cassie say's "Look Dad, a snake," and bends down to get a look. I said "Oh yeah, look Shawna", and turned to see her disappearing over the rise in the trail behind us.

They only spiders I really distain are Red Backs (Black Widows). They are larger and more venomous here.

We also get the giant Huntsman, which grow about as big as your hand. Not venomous, but they do have big, black fangs I don't want to get too near them. I've Had the Huntsmen crawl over me heaps of times, but I don't think I'd want to aanoy one too much while it's on me!

The worst two spiders here, and in the world, are the Mouse Spider and the Funnel Web.

Get bitten by one of those and you don't last long.

Luckily, I've never seen either, but I've seen heaps of Red Backs.

Only the females are poisonous. Figures. :)

The worst thing about Red Backs is they love backyard sheds, old gardening gloves and shoes etc, so you come into close contact with them.

I hear they have a spider-man in New York, I think he only bites Mary Jane Watson. Sticky web stuff though. As far as I know there are not many decent people in New York that fear him.
