For those who play there....


Any well else sick of the blow out games, and nothen but **** fests? I play there quite often under the name <CgS> Pilky and i find my self leaving there alot cause its nothen but ****,repair - ****,repair over and over. Then resulting in a shity game like 7-0 . I can imagine what new players must think of Tribes. Join a game and do nothing but repair. Anyone else sick of this?

rap-e was long ago desided to be blocked, the management had they're reasons and they seemed sound to those of us in the GD, been a while, I don't remember why.

 

I'm not saying take **** away completely, im just saying how when theres to much, the game is just not fun. Simple.

 

While I agree the game's on the server aren't always well-balanced in terms of team skill, at least there always seems to be a decent number of people playing at any given time of day.

What happened to the server anyway? It hasn't been showing up on my server list for the past few days now...is it down?

 

Yeah it seems like there is lots of new players joining the server thats always good too see. Shame tribes learning curve scares most off i also cant seem too find major geeks as much lately very worrying.

 

Pilky...this way off what we are talking bout but i was wondering what everyone is talking about when they say someone is using happy mod. Done some searching on it but cant find anything related to it. Can u help me ou ton this plz?

 

It's a cheat that makes the flag real tall, allows players to see through buildings somewhat and a few other small things things mostly usefull in Arena. Tribes requires skill so cheats are less effective in it then they are in other games.

heh..It got so bad on the server that I was spending more time kicking people for hvy base rap-e than playing. I just gave up because people can't seem to play the way the game was intended to be played... Honorably.

 

I understand your frustration, as I've been playing Tribes for almost 5 years, but your server was virtually the only decent - in terms of ping and numbers of players - base server running left running these days. I think a lot of people, including myself, had some fun playing there...it's a shame to give that up because of a few rude gamers. Your call though...

 

Not my server. It's run by Major Attitude.. I was just an admin. It's a shame that a lot of games get ruined by a few people who think they are being clever when I see it more or less as theft.

 

And it's really a shame that one of the T1 servers I play most on goes down because of behaviour described above by Pilky (and others). There really aren't many base-servers where I (and of course many others) can play with decent ping. And MG server also had lots of players almost all the time (both things Donutz already spoke of). But I'm trying to say that it would be very cool, fantastic, (insert a good adjective here ) if the server could continue. I will really miss the time I spent playing on it if it doens't.

 

Well i aggree also...there arent any real good servers left anymore....ones such as buddy lee's and few others u just cant depend on.

 

BTW...thx for the info pilky...just jeard of it in servers and what not and thought u wud know.

 

After talking with a few people, i realized that the server is still up. I am also able to connect to it manually. But like others i still dont see it in the master server list.

 

At 1:21 EST time i still cannot see the server in the master list, and judgeing by the number of players in the server i dont think alot of others can either.

No problem, i am asking around for a way to disable giving points for a kill with the mortar to discourage spamming. Then i'll bring it by the "boss" and see what he thinks.

Password is only on when the server hits 30 people.

 

lol you guys this game is years old and this argument has been made over and over. The sad fact is there are only 2 GOOD servers now.. You say you "leave the server" then where do you go? You must mean that you stop playing the game cause there is no where else to go.

Raping has always been a issue to everyone except for the team that is winning, no one seems to care then. For me its exactly like we did in the OGL/Teamplay/TWL days; you lose your base you go nude and scavenge. Only the noobs cry and wine while they try and repair the base. The game has evolved so much that a lite wearing spawn gear can be just as deadly. Not to mention you have walking Invys comming at you in a heavy. BB, kill and take the goods and cap the flag, allot of raping means a open flag.

I like the server and the randoming of the teams keeps it from being a 3 hour lopsided server. If you ever need help with the cost of the server just give a shout.

I was never opposed to wrecking the base, capping the flag and doing some damage. My problem is the smack-tards who insist on making themselves a permanent fixture in the enemies base and spawn killing. If I'm on and I see that, I will kick you in a heart beat. Not that I'm playing now anyway... but you get the idea. The game used to be honorable. For me, it mutated into some shadow of its' former self inundated with quakers and ut'ers.

 

What map are you refering to where you can base camp and spawn kill? SB?

If its Scara or BS those maps are so boring I dont care if you stuck your elf up my bung hole the whole map. I am a sleep at the keyboard playing those snorefests.

 

The one I find it takes place in the most is Raindance. You wanna blow stuff up and wreck the base... go for it.. heck, a minute or two of havoc is even ok by me. But to sit there for 10 minutes with 3 heavies in the base mortar spamming is beyond my tolerance level. I honestly don't care what map it's on.. some maps are less susceptible to it than others though so I tend to monitor it for a bit before I take any action.. Additionally, while I'm playing, it's difficult to tell who's base camping from my own team. So (general statement) don't get all ballsy if I don't boot them because I only do it if I see it. My advice is to be on the team with the admin in that case. But again, I haven't been on it months so you probably will not have to fear the Nazi admin named Kodo.

 

I believe what your saying is only true in Stone Hendge, i dont even use the inventorys in there, but to say you can still win while being raped the whole time is BS in my opinion. I wanna see you cap naked in say Raindance when there whole team has snipers/LD. Major Geeks is mostly noobs, you pretty much gotta cap your self for the MOST part, not all the time but most people have no clue where the flag carriers are.

 

Basicly its not even Capture the Flag any more, its whoever dominates the **** is gonna win (for the most part) and excluding a map like SH. Ask anyone the first thing people do in a map like RD is get the **** on, you have the **** your gonna win, thats the sad part that i am pointing out now, i believe **** is good, but its overly influenced now and to dominating.

 

This server needs more admins.
I have been playing tribes for more than five years and would be happy to assist in the integrity of this server.

 

hey pilky...can u see if there is a ban on me...i connect to game and start playing and then bout 20 secs later i get booted. Just wanted to know if there is or there is an admin there doing it that is trying to be funny.

I hear that. You can read my previous posts in this thread to see that I can't be bothered playing anymore becuase I'm constantly kicking base rapers.

 

base raping is always gonna exist....nothing u can do to chg it. Yea u might be able to get it off the server while ur on but look at it when ur gone. still gonna happen. I dont like to **** for the most part except for the rt turrets. I only play this game a lil thru wk and more on wkend. so i havent gotten use to playing naked so i like having enrgy packs and lasers and what not so i guess i agree with ya on base raping but its a never ending story.

anyways, I've been playin the MG server for a while (tribes since starsiege ) ... and I dont see what all the fuss is about when it comes to base raping or any other daily activity. Just like Shiju said, nothing has changed since its existance.

The problem that I see are all the n00bs who do not know how to counter act getting their arses handed to them. I mean, if you get blown up repeatedly trying to repair a gen or inv, common sense would tell ya "screw it, I'm goin offense" ... naked even. The new guys just dont know how to play spawn-n-go. There are some maps where I do not even worry about getting a load-out unless I happen to spawn right next to it. Play with what they gave ya... no guts no glory!

And for the record, I'm not a base raper, never have been never will be, its just too boring for me. My forte` is disc dueling and flag capping. I dont even have a sniper rifle in any of my faves. I like the adrenaline rush of fast paced offensives. Its what Tribes is all about (where else can you ski, disc jump and jet pack at 200 mph dodging chaos??)

Furthermore, MG only gets really bad when theres an infux of new players. But once you've played on the server for a while you come to know some of the regulars whom are Tribes Vets. Late at night when both teams are full of vets, its kick ass. I've had some of the best Tribes experiences in just the past few months playing on MG.

I think its a fine server.
