major help needed

I really need help if anyone is willing to give it. My computer has been acting up lately with my internet browser. After awhile it eventually wont allow me to do virtually anything on the web. It will work once i restart my computer but then it starts to mess up again. What happens is I will be online and try to connect to a page and nothing happens. The bottom status bar simply says done and no page loads. I don't know what's wrong with it and my one computer smart friend cant seem to figure it out either. This is really starting to wear on me especially since I use this computer literally everyday. I don't know if it's a virus or what, because I have up to day AVG software and it detects some things but it says they are not threats...
if you can help me that would be great!

I am running windows XP on my desktop and the files that i found in the scan are
kernel32.dll
user32.dll
shell32.dll
ntoskrnl.exe

Hi and Welcome

AVG does highlight those files but its just a message that these main system files have been updated, generally happens right after a set of windows udpates are installed. This is normal for AVG.

AVG forums http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/read.php?8,50941,50979 bears out the above I posted, with a work around from pne of the Moderators there named rdsok.

Check your Firewall ( if installed ) to see if its blocking the browser from connecting to the Internet.

Do other applications such as Windows MSN / Yahoo Messenger, your Email Software connect ok to the internet?

But to see if you indeed have malware causing your internet browser to act up then please run the below,
