Major Malware Issue

Hello -

This is my first post here. I have gone through the steps in the Read & Run First Malware Removal Guide. Unfortunately, I was only able to actually complete two of the steps. I was able to run CCleaner and also ran the MGTools (from the C drive) and got the log files in a zip. The other steps I was not able to complete because my system would just lock-up.

This problem began this morning. I first noticed that my search results within Google had been/were being hijacked. Then my machine just started to lock-up forcing me to shut down with the power button. I do know that my system rebooted this morning for the first time in a week or so - so what ever is causing this may have required a system restart.

I have attached the only log file I was able to get (MGTools). Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has me out of commission!

Hi there and welcome. Have you tried running SAS MBAM and combofix in safemode? If not do try to do so and attach the logs from each if you were successful.

Unfortunately your mglogs.zip is incomplete. Please answer the below questions:

Did you receive any error messages when running it?

Did you let it run to completion, did it run until you were told to hit any key to continue?

Did you agree to the hijackthis licence agreement?

Please check out the below for information regarding possible error messages:

Using MGtools

(scroll down about halfway to "possible error messages")

Then please re-run MGTools.exe and let's see if we can get some complete logs. Attach the ---> C:\mglogs.zip into your next post as well as logs from running SAS, MBAM and combofix in safemode if you weren't able to complete the steps in normal mode.
