You have a Windows Police Pro type infections and we will need to replace your infected cngaudit.dll file with a valid copy. Before we can do that, we need to do some prep work. Complete all instructions below even if any parts do not work. Then post back.

Please download and run the below tool named Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) which may help allow other programs to run.

There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.

Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Administrator

You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
    1. Rkill.exe
    2. Rkill.com
    3. Rkill.scr
    4. Rkill.pif
Once you've gotten one of them to run then try to immediately run the following.

Now download and Run exeHelper from Raktor
    • Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
    • Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
    • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
    • A log file named log.txt will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com
    • Attach the log.txt file to your next message.
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Now run this: Using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

    Now run this: Using MGtools

Now you need to attach (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post ) the below logs created while running the above scans
    • c:\avplog.txt
    • exeHelper log
    • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
    • MGlogs.zip - normally it is C:\MGlogs.zip - only attach this log from MGtools.exe DO NOT attach any logs seen in the MGtools folder.

Yes this is the correct log for MGtools that we need, but it looks like you had a problem getting it to finish running based on the filelog.txt file. Try doing the below.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.
Now please download and run Win32kDiag per the below instructions:
    • Download this Win32kDiag and save to C:\Win32kDiag.exe. You must save it here!!!!
    • Click on Start->Run, and copy-paste the following command (the bolded text) into the "Open" box, and click OK. When it's finished, there will be a log called Win32kDiag.txt on your desktop. Please attach this log
    C:\win32kdiag.exe -f -r

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • the Win32kDiag.txt log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Hi and thanks again. Ive done what you said and here are the logs.

Just a few concerns though, you previously said that my cngaudit.dll file had been infected. But i dont think i have that file anymore i think i deleted it, sorry if that makes it harder, or maybe it doesnt matter if we are replacing it anyway?

Also at the moment i cannot download anything in a zip file, i.e. winrar files, 7zip nothing like that. I still cannot run AVG scans and i fail to open spybot search and destroy. All these i understand might be fixed after cleaning is complete sorry to interupt your process if they will be fixed.

Im still a bit confused about the C:\MGlogs.zip file so i have included the 2 .txt files i found in my C:/MGtools folder.

    Thanks again.

Yes this is the actual system file name that should be on your PC but your c:\windows\system32\cngaudit.dll file was infected and your real valid file was copied to this name c:\windows\system32\logevent.dll

The problem is that two programs you ran ( Panda Active Scan and MBAM ) incorrectly identified logevent.dll as being infected. It was actually a backup file which could have been used to fix the infection.

We need to see if you have copies of the file in the MBAM quarantine. Also there is some kind of problem with running MGtools as even the filelog.txt file you attach does not show the proper MGtools folder. It showed the Windows/System32 folder.

Please do all of the below to the best of your ability. If any step does not work, just continue on and report back when you have tried all steps.

Download and save the below to your PC (save it anywhere you can find it. The Desktop is fine). Then double click on it to run it.

    AVPFind.bat

It should take a couple minutes to run. You will see a black command prompt window while it is running and it should close when it is finished. Once it finishes, attach the c:\avplog.txt file that is will hopefully create as long as the malware does not block the batch file from running. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post)

Now please try running the below online scan:

    http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html

Reboot immediately after scanning if it finds and removes anything. Let me know if anything was found. See if you can save a log with it.

Now download the current version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below logs:
    • C:\avplog.txt - from AVPfind
    • a log from online SAS scan if you could make one
    • C:\MGlogs.zip - from MGtools
The C:\ assumes that drive C is you Windows boot drive. If you boot from another drive, then use the correct drive letter above.

If MGtools does not run, please do the below.

Check to see it the C:\MGtools\temp\VSP1 folder exists from running MGtools. If it does exist, see it the below files are in the folder
    Code:
    "C:\MGtools\temp\VSP1\"
    beep~1.sys Jan 19 2008 6144 "beep.sysmg"
    cngaud~1.dll Nov 2 2006 11776 "cngaudit.dllmg"
    netlog~1.dll Jan 19 2008 592384 "netlogon.dllmg"
    scecli~1.dll Jan 19 2008 177152 "scecli.dllmg"

Hi again, i really think ive done it correctly this time!!! haha thanks again. I downloaded these files (i have to use my other computer as i still cant download some files onto this computer), then ran them in the order, first disabling UAC, which i didnt do first time, also i was running MGtools from a memory stick so thats why i didnt have the zip file. I now have the zip file and the other logs which are included.

The only thing is that i couldnt run that online scan because when i downloaded the file (one of the only things i can download) and ran it i came up with the error: is not a valid win32 application.

Im still wondering about my downloads but replacing this sytem file should fix that im hoping.

    Thanks.

    Hey.
I cannot disable spybot search and destroy because whenever I try and open it it gives this error message : spybot seach and destroy is not a valid win32 application.
So I have not been able to follow the rest of the steps.

What is in the below folder on your Desktop?
    Code:
    C:\Users\Jack\Desktop\
    ASDFGHJ 23 Nov 2009 "asdfghj"

Okay now let's run Win32kDiag once more:

    • Download this Win32kDiag and save to C:\Win32kDiag.exe. You must save it here!!!!
    • Click on Start->Run, and copy-paste the following command (the bolded text) into the "Open" box, and click OK. When it's finished, there will be a log called Win32kDiag.txt on your desktop. Please attach this log
    C:\win32kdiag.exe -f -r

Now download Junction, zip to your Windows folder
    • Please download Junction.zip and save it to your Windows folder (i.e, C:\Windows\Junction.zip This assumes C:\ is your Windows boot drive.)
    • Now unzip it and put junction.exeinto the Windows folder (i.e., C:\Windows\junction.exe)
    • Do not try to run it right now. We will run something that uses it later.

Now we need to reset the permissions altered by the malware on some files.
    • Download and save inhertit.exe to your Desktop: Inherit.exe
    • It must be in your Desktop or the below fix will not work!
Now run the C:\MGtools\FixPerm.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • A command prompt window opens and also a license agreement from SysInternals will appear for Junction.
    • Accept the license agreement and the scan will begin.
    • Wait until it finishes we can take a while to run since it scans your whole harddisk. e patient and don't do anything else while it is scanning.
    • The command prompt window should close when it finishes.
    • While this is running, you will get several/many popups that have a title Finish and say OK. Just click the OK button each time. This is an indication that it has found a file and has attempted to fix permissions. Depending on how many files that need to be fixed, you could get only a few or many of these popups.
Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5

Now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below log:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Hi again, ive completed these steps and my some of my downloads are working now i havnt tried all of them. Only thing is that junction couldnt be unzipped into my windows folder because of some permissions thing.

And that file on my desktop just contains some of the programs you said use like MGtools etc. the name is just randomly typed as you can probably guess. :)

Please delete this folder. None of the items we asked you to download belong there. You must only download and save where we ask you to save. A couple xamples:
    • MGtools.exe must be save to c:\MGtools.exe
    • ComboFix.exe must be save directly to the Desktop
Now speaking of ComboFix, download the current version from here combofix.exe and save it to your Desktop. Then try running it per the instructions in the READ & RUN ME. If it runs attach the C:\combofix.txt log.

Try extracting Junction to either your Desktop or to the root folder ( C:\ ) like where we tell you to put MGtools.exe. Then run that procedure with FixPerm.bat

Continue on with the below whether the above works or not.

Go to TDSSKiller and Download TDSSKiller.zip to your Desktop
    • Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
    • Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold command into Run box and hit Enter.
    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -l C:\TDSSKiller.txt -v

    • Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
    • When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive called "TDSSKiller.txt" please attach this log to your next reply.
Now download the current version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below log:
    • C:\TDSSkiller.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Hi again ive attached the logs. One query i dont know if it has anything to do with the malware probelm, but all of the games i had previously installed before cleaning have messed up resolutions. The game loads into about half the size of my actual screen size and i cant seem to fix this even with changing resolutions in game. Thanks.
P.S. i couldnt find the TDSS log sorry, it did say towards the beginning of the fix that it had a probelm getting a log i think. I didnt do the fix with UAC disabled maybe this is the problem?

UAC must be disable the whole time while fixing your malware problems or nothing will work properly. However there is a bug in the new version of TDSSkiller that has created problems in getting a log so I will give you a new procedure. But first disable UAC and reboot before continuing. Did you also have UAC enabled when you were trying to run Junction? If so, it would not work.

    • Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
    • Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold command into Run box and hit Enter.
    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -v

    • Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
    • When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply.
Now with UAC disabled, redo the steps with Junctions since you do not seem to have run it yet. I need a new log from MGtools but only after you have extracted Junction.exe and have run FixPerm.bat as previously requested.

Hi again, i have done tdss killer again and everything else with UAC disabled, but junction does not seemt o be running when i do fixperm.bat, there is no licence agreement thing poping up, junction.exe has been extracted to my C:folder.

I don't see the Junction.zip file anywhere on your PC. Where did you download it to? Are you sure the junction.exe is in your root folder? FixPerm.bat does appear to have run properly though and junction.exe was found and run from one of the locations I look for it at. And a few more problems were found.

Nnow let's run Win32kDiag once more after redownloading to be sure we have the current version.

Please download the new version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below logs:
    • the new log from Win32kDiag
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Are you still having any malware problems?

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
