System: Win XP Pro, V2002, SP2; Intel (®) Pentium® D CPU 3.00Hz 3.00 GHz, 960 MB of RAM; IE 8, MS Outlook 2007, Paint Shop Pro Version X, MS Outlook 2007 (also X2 Ultimate, prefer to work in X).

I have the following error message which has pretty much frozen everything and I have no idea how to handle this. Remember I had a stroke so I find it very hard to commicate in some areas ~ Hugz, Lynn

For some reason I couldn't get my attachment and screenshot so I copied the message.

Cannot expand the folder. The file C:\Documents and settings\User\Local settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is in use and cannot be accessed. Close any application that is using this file and then try again. You may need to restart your computer.

The usual reason for this is that there is a second instance of Outlook.exe running, so open Task Manager by right clicking the taskbar, and on the Processes tab sort the processes by name by clicking on 'Process Name'. Right click any outlook.exe process and click End Process. Now restart Outlook. Alternatively a reboot should allow it to start normally.

Did we fix your navigation pane problem?

R clk; task bar; processes; R clk OE exe; end of processes, then I re-started.

    It didn't work.

Now I have a new Error message

Errors have been detected in the file; C:\Documents and settings\User\Local settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst. Quit outlook and all mail enabled applications and then use the inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) diagose and repair errors in the files. For more information about the Inbox repair tool, see help

ps: I decided to submit a different image in the navigation pane, it works in some views
