Major Problems I need Major help... No Punn intended

I have an older computer that I received.

It seems to have so many problems I can't even do the normal steps in the READ ME file.

It seems to have "hijacked" the NIC Card, Modem, USB Drives and everything. There are so many errors that pop up on reboot its insane. I was able to find a dormant AOL 4.0 and loaded it and was able to open and send emails. I email HJT to myself and opened it on an old AOL account ran it and emailed back to myself and I will attached it if someone can help.

Am I in the right place?

Malware does not hijack hardware. Do you mean they don't work? Reload the drivers?

What OS are you talking about? What type of PC specs? If it is so messed up, why don't you just reload the OS?

If it has AOL 4.0, it must be really old. Is it really worth fixing?

If you can run AOL you should be able to download and run the cleaning steps. Or does something prevent that.

I'm sorry...

I can use the modem in Safe Mode and it says its unavailable in Normal mode. Also the hardware shows the nic card being there but when I try to connect to my LAN it says it doesn't recognize the Network Card.... Also it won't recognize and USB device connected to it... even a USB Mem. Stick.

Please answer the rest of my questions from the previous message! Also are you saying you have an analog modem in the PC and it works but the NIC card does not? How do you connect to the internet? Dial-up? Cable? ADSL? Is it thru AOL?
