Hi, I recently built a computer for a friend and now it is so messed up I can't even believe it. He asks me if I know about free virus programs and says he might have 1. So I go to and install AVG free when I see error messages popping up all over the screen. Several web pages were popping up as well and I can't access the task manager. And 1 error message counted down a timer until restart. I ran Adaware which he had installed and it found 100's of items. At the point I decided to follow the steps in the try before posting page. I was able to run most of them fine, however I could not get BitDefender to work. I used AVG and it found thousands of Viruses including some with the names of programs that I know run real programs! I quarantined them anyway and now some programs like CCleaner are not working. I tried several of the options in step 9 as well. So right now the computer is still in bad shape. Panda Scan for over 10,000 viruses so that log is a bit absurd and too big to attach. Most of the files found by panda were files with names like <RandomFileName>.t which I have never seen before. This computer is weeks old so maybe a fresh install is the best option? Well here are the logs I could get. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi, after several hours of trying, I got to use the Bitdefender Online Scan. I think it was there site and not my messed up PC. Anyway, here is the log. Also, what other information would be useful for you guys? I can tell you that most of the problems are from LimeWire.

I appreciate it, and I wish I would have seen this post earlier as my friend botched the reinstall. He claims he reformatted the hard drive and when windows was reinstalled, he had several files on the hard drive from before the fresh install! So I'm checking it out and I'll report back if by some reason problems still exist.

    Okay!

If he formatted properly then nothing should be there. If files are still there after the install he just did a reinstall over your previous install which isn't a good idea.

That must have been what he did. The computer has been formatted and I have put all the programs in place following the Malware Protection Guide. Thanks for your time.
