Hey guys! Here's the deal. I had a spyware/adware/trojan whatever kick my computers ass about a week ago. What's happening is that I can access certain websites and not others. I can go to alot of microsoft websites and some other major ones but not a whole lot. Also, my MSN and AIM messenger programs work just fine. Obviously I can access this site as well. Here's what I have done to try and remedy it but with no luck.
    1. Did a system restore
    2. Ran hijack this
    3. Did a fresh reinstall of windows.
    4. Turned off and even uninstalled firewalls.
    5. Set internet security settings to low.
    5. Did a check for original versions of files.
    6. Installed and ran virtually every single spyware, adware, and antivirus program known.
    7. Found something called a DSO exploit - deleted those registry entries entirely
    8. Did a winsock repair
    9. Downloaded Firefox and Netscape - Same problem as Internet Explorer
    10. Downloaded all Updates for Windows XP

None of these things have allowed me to view internet websites. It's really annoying and costing me alot of wasted hours trying to fix. Has anyone had a similiar problem?

Do you have a router? What kind?

Check for firmware updates and install them? Several people have had problems like you describe and that was the problem. Try that and if it does not help. We will try some other steps.

Hey I am using a D-Link di604 Router but I connected to the Cable modem directly to test it with no luck.

You need to get the latest firmware updates for the router. D-link is one of the routers having this problem. Testing your connection to the cable modem will not do anything. Get the the new firmware installed.

Hey Chas, downloaded the firmware. It came with a bin file, how do I use this file?

I do not have a D-Link router so I'm not sure what their procedures are. Didn't the download page or the file including instruction on how to install it?

Which revision did you have: DI-604 Revision A, B, and C or the E
And what was your current Firmware version?

The instructions appear to be on their web page:
