Making Firefox My Default Browser

    In the "Options" in Mozilla Firefox it says, "Firefox is not your default browser". I change it to being my default browser but Windows never changes it to my default browser and whenever anything should open a web browser automatically it opens Internet Explorer. What might the problem be and how might I fix it? My laptop PC is an Acer Aspire ES1-512 running Windows 10 (x64).
