I am trying to post pictures on a website and they keep telling me my pictures are to large, they need to be no bigger than 300kb. Since I am not computer smart, they have lost me! I know I did something once to make them smaller, but can't remember what it was, and that was last year. How does one make pictures smaller that are allready on computer? Thank you in advance.

Either save the image as a .jpg or change the resolution of the file you are working with.

Or shrink the demensions of the picture using any popular image edditing programs. Heck, if you REALLY wanted to, you could even use MS paint to decresse the size. Although deffinently probably not the optimal it would allow you to shrink the size. As said above, best way is to get a real image edditing program, and decrese resolution and convert to compressed type like .jpg

A quick and easy way in WinXP is just to email them to yourself this way:

Right click on the image filename (or multiple filenames), and select Send To -> Mail Recipient. A dialog box will appear asking if you want to "make all your pictures smaller". Do so and an email composition window will open with the resized file(s) already attached. This does not alter the original file, only makes a smaller copy, and even though it says "all", it is not a permanent change-- it will ask again next time. Send the mail to yourself, and, upon receipt, save the attachment(s) in a folder of your choosing, but not the folder with the original image, or it will be overwritten with the smaller version (if you don't change the savefile name).

You can acomplish that by getting a image edditing program and going to atributes and lowering the resolution. I personally use Adobe Photoshop, but deffinently does not need to be that high of a program. I know alot of times you can get free demos of programs, like jasc paint shop pro, but do not know of any freeware programs sorry :(

I will look into some free ware progs and see if i can find one for you to d/l.

Is where u can d/l a trial of paint shop pro or other imaging programs if you choose to.

    gl hf :)

Which OS do you have is it XP by any chance?

If so an easy method for you is to download PowerToys for XP and install the Image Resizer tweak http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=710 once installed just right click a picture and you now have a menu option to Resize Pictures, if you pick Small then I would be suprise if it was over 300kbs in size ( even Medium sould be ok but experiment )

Star17 has listed some programs I use to resize, crop and alter pictures that are very usefull.

Yeah its a really good tweak from MS, plus the quality of the pics stays pretty good as well..... their are alot of useful powertoys especially the TweakUI module... helps adjust alot of the options you would need to hack the registry to change.

Not the best way to do it, but I just go into MS Paint-->Image-->Stretch/Skew and lower the Horizontal and Vertical percentages. And yes, my pictures are tiny instead of blurry!
