    Hi

I under stand that you can purchase a USB v2.0 to a 5pin Male Motherboard Header Connector

can you buy the same thing only with a 9 pin male motherboard connector? It's to plug in the back of a card reader and i've been told that i would require 2 leads which is more messy.

    help appreciated.
    thanks in adavance, temple-Lobe

You could stay with one thread.
The PCI card I linked to has a 9pin header you need, if you dont want to go that route then you need 2 of the frontx cables.

I'd go with the card, if not you need to ake a razor or pin and cut/knock out the notch on the USB header and use 2 cables run from outside the case (back usb ports) into the case and connect the card reader on those. The cables from front X have 5 pins which is why you'd wind up with 10 pins, so you need to punch the 'key' out of the plug. It is usually hollow just a thin cover. And I have not found a cable from usb to 9 pin, because the 9 pins are 2 ubs connectors together - splitting one connector might not power enough to run any devices that require the full 9 pins.
