malicious code found in files

    i have f secure antivirus supplied by my isp provider,its informed me that malicious codes found in file c:\windows\servicepackfiles\wextract.exe.infections trojan.win32.agent.xud action .the file was renamed. then windows tells me to reinstall servicepack 3 disc which i dont have or computer might not run properly, could some kind person tell me whats goimg on and why does antivirus rename files and where do they go

    That file is a required file for Windows and it is not malware. This was a false positive. If F-Secure just renamed it and left it in the folder, then rename it back.

    im a total beginner how do i do this ,and could this be the reason my dvd writer has disappeared at the same time

    Right click Start and select Explore to open Windows Explorer. Navigate to the c:\windows\servicepackfiles folder and look for the renamed wextract.exe file. You did not say what F-Secure renamed it so I cannot help you with that. Once you find the file, right click on it and select Rename. Change the name back from whatever it is now to wextract.exe

    If you do not find the renamed file in this folder than F-Secure either moved it somewhere else (like a quarantine folder) or it deleted the file. I cannot tell you extactly what it does since I never have used F-Secure.

    I doubt it.
