    It started probably about 2 weeks ago. I get random pop-ups and somehow my wifes web-based hotmail account got hijacked and was sending her friends viagra advertisements via email. My wife said she was on a homesteading forum and believes she got the malware from that site. She had talked to one of her friends, and they had visited the site too and started experiencing similar problems. I have run my Norton, Malwarebytes, and SuperAntiSpyware all to no avail, so I followed your guide. Still experiencing the pop-ups, so I'm hoping you can help me get rid of this. Thanks for all of your help in advance. You guys are great for helping everyone.

    I guess we started noticing random pop-ups about 2 weeks ago. My wife says she was visiting a homesteading forum website, and believes that is when it all started. She has a friend that also visited that website, and started getting similar things happening. It also hijacked her web-based hotmail account and sent viagra advertisements to all of her contacts. Sometimes, sound advertisements will just start playing as well. I ran my Norton Security Suite, SuperAntiSpyware, and Malwarebytes, and they all found nothing. I then came here and followed your directions, and I'm still having the problems. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Here are my logs.

    If you did not deliberately set this proxy yourself then please include it in the HJT fix below:

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop

    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some data on it
    • Right click on the screen and select > Select All
    • Press Control+C
    • Open a notepad and press Control+V
    • now please ATTACH that report to this thread

    Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    hotdyudc
    tbfwffwp

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\hotdyudc.sys
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\tbfwffwp.sys
    c:\program files\Common Files\bijusyl.bin
    c:\program files\Common Files\rixi.dl
    c:\program files\Common Files\luqizyp.dat
    c:\windows\S12E50450.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\100.dat
    C:\Documents and Settings\Matthew Greenroyd\Local Settings\Temp\Acr99.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Matthew Greenroyd\Local Settings\Temp\Acr9B.tmp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Matthew Greenroyd\Local Settings\Temp\AcrA5.tmp

    Folder::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Matthew Greenroyd\Local Settings\Temp\ZB

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    Run Ccleaner!

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from MBRCheck.

    Okay, thanks for all the help with this. I followed all of your instructions, but ran into a few problems when I was trying to delete the files in the C:\WINDOWS\Temp and the C:\Documents and Settings\Matthew Greenroyd\Local Settings\TEMP directories. I kept getting that I could not delete the files because they were being used by another person or program. It told me to close any programs that might be using the file and try again. There were two files in c:\windows\temp, and they were Perflib_Perfdata_3dc.dat and Perflib_Perfdata_5d4.dat. There were 4 files in the c:\documents and settings\matthew greenroyd\local settings\temp directory that I couldn't delete. They were IadHide5.dll, Perflib_Perfdata_86c.dat, Perflib_Perfdata_df8.dat, and Perflib, Perfdata_ec8.dat.
    I was able to succesfully do everything else, and here are the requested logs. Thank you again.

    Good evening. :)

    Now we need to use ComboFix again.
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    Atesmdecrs
    DirLook::
    C:\KA

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now we need to use MBRCheck again as combofix claimed to have fixed the MBR infection which was present, but I would like to double check myself.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also the NEW log from MBRCheck.

    How is your computer behaving at this point?

    Yes combofix did address the MBR infection you had. Now, could you answer a question?

    What do you know about the contents of this folder?

    I think that is a folder for the installation of 2 preschool learning games for my kids. I don't think we use it anymore, so I am okay with uninstalling the programs and deleting the folder if you think it is causing problems.

  10. Kestrel13!

    Kestrel13! Super Malware Fighter - Major Dilemma Staff Member

    Yes, you can simply delete the whole folder if you do not use it any more. :)

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
