Malware causing crash on A-V updates?

Ok, this is driving me nuts. Having BSOD issues when A-V software was trying to auto update 9I think). Was running Spysweeper and AVG Free 8.5 which I have removed via add remove programs. Probs started about a month ago with I.E. having probs & closing and then progressed to the BSOD issues with no other changes. Now i can boot up into normal mode but will BSOD once up with 0x_0A, 0X_8E, 0X_50, stop errors (IRQ not less or equal) (page fault in non paged area) (pfn list corrupt). Seem to be stable in safe mode with networking. Followed the Read & Run me guide could only run the checks in safe mode. Machine info Dell Dimension 3100 XP home.

Update: Malware causing crash on A-V updates?

More stable in normal mode now, removed a bunch of unused programs, but still have the following issues.

AVG free 8.5 - BSOD when nearing end of full scan.

Windows malisious software removal tool - BSOD when nearing end of scan.

Malwarebytes - Hangs & locks up computer near end of scan. Hard start needed.

Cannot install microsoft debugger even when logged on as admin.

Any ideas anyone?

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.

If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below

Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups

If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)

Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required

"%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u

Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.

This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.

If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.

Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.

If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:

Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.

Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
