Malware clean, streaming still slow

I have Windows XP on my lHP laptop. Video streaming used to play fine and for about a month now it is completely choppy - 2 or 3 seconds of download at a time.

It seems to me that it's also taking longer to download files.

I have ATT DSL and we do not have this problem on the other laptop in the house so I don't think it's them.

What can I check on my computer to see if this can be fixed?

What web browser do you use to watch the streaming media? How long since you cleared your browser's history, particularly Temporary Internet Files?

Did you make any software changes to your computer around the time this problem started?

I suggest you run a speed test of your Internet connection with both computers to see whether the problematic one gets about the same results from the speed test. Here's one speed test site: http://www.speedtest.net/. I suggest you select the same geographic test location for each computer and, if the test results between the two computers is significantly different, run a second test on each to provide a stronger basis for drawing a valid conclusion from the tests.

 

I see you had a bit of a malware issue, same machine I assume.

Try booting into safe mode with networking, then try a streaming video, any improvement?
