Windows xp sp3. Something stopped all anti virus/spam/malware from loading. Click on a link or from the all programs list and I get 'insufficient privlidges cannot open' message.

Followed all the steps. Ran CCleaner. Uninstalled all Java. Tried to reinstall and always got error message 25099. Went to Java help and nothing worked to reinstall Java. Couldn't stop Teatimer since I can't open Spywareblaster. Emptied antivirus quarentine files - PCTools compte purchased version. Set to view all files and folders. Msconfig to start normal. Downloaded all programs to desktop and MGTools to C:

Ran Superantispyware. It found and removed 110 items. Continued on per instructions. Didn't save log to desktop at that time since I could get out later.

Couldn't get Malwarebytes to open and scan beyond 3 seconds, then it shut itself off.

At this point, SuperAntispyware Icon was blanked out (and later couldn't ever open it agin, so there's no log file available, unless you can show me where to find it somewhere on My Computer.)

Combofix ran ok and I have that log.

RootRepeal ran ok and I have that log.

MGTools ran ok and I have that log.

Still can't open any Spywareblaster, Malwarebytes or Superantispyware. PCTools will open and run a complete scan, but it finds nothing in results.

Attaching the logs. Thianks for looking. Bill

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

Please attach the SASlog that was saved in this directory when you ran it.
I will then begin reviewing your logs.

Thanks Dr. Over the weekend Malwarebytes replied, since I'm a paid user there, and suggested running SAS Fix again. it ran and deleted a file and I'm attaching that log Report. Now I can access Malwarebytes to run scans. It always finds and deletes the same files over and over. Attaching that log. My computer now starts and runs 'ok' but still has issues. Let me know if there's anything else you need. Thanks Bill

    Hello, bandjoey

The below fixes are specific to this member's problem and should only be used for issue(s) on this machine. Also, please do not install any other software while we are still working with you unless instructed. Once we have given you the all clean and final instructions you will be free to install what you want.

I strongly recommend that you clean up this account's Desktop immediately leaving only links.[C:\Documents and Settings\Bandjoey\Desktop] Do not store downloads, exe files, iso files....etc on your Desktop. First it is not a safe place to keep them (i.e., you may loose them due to malware, and a cluttered Desktop is an easy hiding place for malware), and last but not least it can have an effect on your PC's performance.

*Comment: Giving all users of this pc "Adminstrator Accounts" is bound to lead to problems.

    Step 1:
Dis-able Spybot's TeaTimer as requested in our Windows XP Cleaning Procedure

    Step 2:
Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Step 3:
Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Step 4:
Now we need to use ComboFix.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware, firewall...etc) programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. *Remember to re-start them before coming back online.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Step 5:
Open CCleaner - select "Cleaner" > "Run Cleaner" <---use this function ONLY!

    Step 6:
Now install the latest Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Step 7:
    * You attached the RootRepeal.exe application - not the requested RRlog.txt from running the application.

    Now RUN
    RootRepeal

Then go to this link MGTools and download the new version of MGtools....overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

Please attach the below logs to your next reply:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
    • C:\combofix.txt
    • RRlog.txt

Make sure you tell me if you had any problems running this procedure and give a description of how things are working now!

    dr.m
