I was stupid and downloaded and ran an executable file called MediaTubeCodec_ver1.487.1.exe. It changed my desktop which can't be fixed. There is a screensaver of bugs eating the desktop. I have run all the steps of the "read me"
    I'm running XP SP2.

    Thanks for the help.

Actually looks pretty good....let's do this:

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following:

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it(Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\jet702b.tmp

Now tell me how things are running.

    Tim,

Thank you very much for the help. Things look more like normal now. I'll attach my HJT log. If things are looking good, do I uninstall all the scanners that I installed for the initial cleaning?

Let's make sure everything is clean before I give you the final cleanup....

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

I did what was instructed but was unable to find the line to fix. I fixed in the previous attempt. Attached is the log.

The 020 line is still showing in the HJT log....O20 - Winlogon Notify: opnlLdeE - opnlLdeE.dll (file missing)

I think I got it this time.

Either your anti-virus software or anti-spyware programs are stopping you from making the changes.......Boot into safe mode....disable ALL virus and spyware programs...

Reboot to normal mode and run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

I'm sorry, but I didn't see the line:

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: opnlLdeE - opnlLdeE.dll (file missing)

Otherwise I followed all of your instructions.

Could it be that you are just giving me the same MGLogs.zip as you did the last time?

Did you run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it?

I deleted the old logs and ran the batch file again. Just to be sure, it opens a DOS window?

Yes, it does. And you will get a popup asking you to agree to the HJT license....you need to do so and then let it run until it tells you it is finished. The log you attached shows it did not fully run.

    There ya go.....;)

    Your logs look clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

1 If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)

    * Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
    * "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
o Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
o This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    * Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
2 *If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
3 *If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    6. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
