Malware - If not, what?

Please forgive me if I am posting this inappropriately.

I have been and still am, constantly receiving emails from different people, all carrying my optus email address!

I am at a loss as to know -

a. how this has occurred

b. is this some sort of malware

Would very much appreciate your comments on this.

I'm sorry but this is not a malware problem. This is just spam. You need to be much more careful how and where you use your email address. Never respond to unsolicited emails. Even ones they say click here to unsubscibe. All you are doing is confirming your email address is valid when you do this and you get yourself added to spam lists.

Also make sure that you are careful who you give your email address to. Friends who like to send out mail by resonding to all people on an email list and ones who forward jokes and other spam should be told that you DO NOT WANT them sending this junk to you. And if it continues, tell them to remove your email address from their address book. If that does not help, change your email address and don't give it to those friends anymore.

I have endeavoured to be careful but obviously not careful enough!

Having been a surfer for many years, I suspect I've become a tad
careless and must mend my ways.
