A little less than a week ago i started noticing that while web browsing i would receive multiple pop-up ads advertising false virus removal programs.

I figured that i got a trojan on my system so i decided to run a few scanners to try to remove the trojan. The scanners detected that my system had the Virtumonde trojan on my system so i cleaned the system with the scanners.

Now every time i start my system up and log in i get an error message telling me that it could not initiate a randomly named .dll file.

I just finished thoroughly running through the READ & RUN me first thread, but i still receive the error message on startup and i still receive pop up ads for fake virus removers. Also my system speed seems as though it has been cut in half.

Here are the first three required logs attachments:

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Why are you running this PC with no antivirus, no antispyware, and no real firewall installed?

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Uninstall the below software:
Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 1 of the READ ME

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Important Notice: A new version of SUPERAntiSpyware is out that should help with problems from Vundo.
    • Please uninstall your current version (this is necessary).
    • Then download this SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Install this new version. It may tell you that you need to reboot to complete the installation. You must reboot at this time.
    • After the reboot, run SUPERAntiSpyware and immediately click the Check for Updates button to get more updates for the database.
    • Now run a new full scan of your system. And attach this first log later.
    • Since this infection has been reappearing after a reboot, you will have to reboot again and then run an additional scan to make sure it comes back clean. Attach this second log too.
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • both new SUPERAntiSpyware logs
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Ever since i ran the initial READ & RUN i no longer get the .dll error message and my computer seems to be running at its original speed. The only problem is that there are still Vundo infected files on my system as you can see in the logfiles.

Here are the first 3 logs:

You probably just getting reinfected because as I mentioned earlier, you have NO PROTECTION installed.

Please update your version of SUPERAntiSpyware.
And attach this new log.
Also run Malwarebytes, and update to the current version and database and run a new scan with it too. Attach the new log.

Is the below from something your just installed? Is it a game? It looks like malware to me.
    Code:
    2009-01-07 23:46 2009-01-08 00:56 <DIR> c:\program files\Master Of Defense

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: oexajq.dll

NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now goto this link Using MGtools and download the new version of MGtools.exe from the black bold print link in the first sentence. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe then attach the below logs:
    • the new SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes logs
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
