    Hi,

My computer has been infected with some malware that I can't seem to get rid of on my own. I'm requesting help from MajorGeeks since I've tried everything I can think of and the malware is still on my computer. The malware program periodically launches internet explorer either to a web page that is selling spyware protection, or it launches as a smaller box trying to imitate a windows dialog box. I was almost tricked the first time until I noticed the words "Internet Explorer" in the top left corner. I do not use Internet Explorer, so the malware program has been launching it.

I followed all the steps listed at the READ & RUN ME FIRST thread, but there is still an infection. A couple of notes about what I found at the steps:

0: Preliminary House Cleaning & Setup

When I checked Window's Add/Remove List, I noticed a strange program called VSToolbar. I removed it from the list, and it no longer shows up when I check, but it has since popped up in subsequent scans.

    5: Cleaning Malware

The first time I ran all the scans listed in this section, almost all of them found a problem and fixed it. I have since run them all again, and none of them found a problem (but I still have the Malware infection).

6A: Online Virus And Trojan Scanning

When I start my computer in Safe Mode with networking enabled, I am able to access the Internet for a brief period of time, before all activity ceases. I'm assuming that the malware program is hijacking my internet connection, but I could be wrong. Anyways, I ran the Panda ActiveScan in Safe mode, but at the end I was unable to access the Internet to get the scan report. Therefore I restarted in normal mode and re-ran the ActiveScan in order to get the report, which I am including.
