My mom's PC recently was infected. I thought at first it looked like a Smitfaud infection. I ran the scans as laid out in the malware readme. It appears that the scans may have cleared up the situation but I just want to post my logs to be sure. I saw a couple things in the HJT log that can be removed but I will wait and hear from an expert.

    Other scans attached.

I should also note that when the PC came to me the Antivirus was expired. I removed it and installed AVG.

    Thanks in advance.

First, please disable AVG Anti-Spyware and any other antispy or antivirus you have installed so it will not interfere with this fix.

    Download Pocket KillBox
    • Save it to your desktop or a place easy to find.
    • Do not run it yet
Please look in Add/Remove Programs for the following and uninstall them if found:

    Video ActiveX Access

Please print out these instructions so that you can operate with All Browser Windows CLOSED.

Please make sure the Viewing of Hidden Files & Folders is enabled per the READ ME.

Now scan with HijackThis and check the boxes for the following entries:
( Make sure ALL browser windows are closed when you click FIX )

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {5CBE2611-C31B-401F-89BC-4CBB25E853D7} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: Protection Bar - {31615D5C-5126-448A-818A-A7CDFEE85A9B} - C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Access\iesbpl.dll (file missing)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [FastUser] C:\WINDOWS\system32\fast.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [user32.dll] C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Access\iesmn.exe

    O22 - SharedTaskScheduler: auditioned - {44e670f2-d57b-4815-a576-955d17dbbf2d} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\eeuydc.dll (file missing)

Again, make sure ALL browser windows are closed when you click FIX.

Copy the contents of the below Quote Box to Notepad. Then click File and then Save As. Change the Save as Type to All Files. Name the file fixme.reg and then click save. (make sure you save it somewhere you can find it. Saving it to your Desktop may make that easy.) Then double-click on the fixme.reg file on your desktop (or locate it with Windows Explorer and double click on it if not saved to the Desktop) and when it prompts to Add in to the registry, say yes.

Now, Please boot into Safe Mode, be sure you have the Viewing of Hidden Files & Folders Enabled per the tutorial. Now, navigate to and DELETE the following if they should remain:

C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Access Delete this whole folder if it exist!

Next, run CCleaner to clean up cookies and temp files.

    Locate PocketKillbox
(Procede with this step even if they do not show in blue)

Now, Copy and Paste C:\WINDOWS\system32\eeuydc.dll into the box – If it exists, it will show up in Blue. Check the option to Delete on Reboot and Click the Red X and Yes to the confirmation message. A message will ask if you want to reboot now – Click YES and allow your PC to reboot.

    • If you get an error message about Pending Operations, just reboot your computer manually.

After you complete the above, REBOOT and proceed with the rest of this fix...

Next Reset Web Settings & Default Security Settings

    Note for IE 6 users:
    To Reset Web Settings:
Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.

If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK

    To Default Security Settings:
Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Security Tab and click Default Level for Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites, and Restricted Sites. For IE 7 users, simply click the "Reset all zones to default level" button.

    Note for IE 7 users:
Select Internet Options, then the Advanced Tab and then the Reset button under Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

Finally, I would like you to flush your System Restore points. Please follow the instructions in the below:

    • Disable and Re-enable System Restore

    • Turn OFF System Restore to flush any bad Restore Points.

    • Then, follow the instructions at the bottom of the linked page to Re-enable the Restore Utility which will create a fresh restore point.
After you complete the above reboot once more and then scan with HijackThis and attach the new log.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now.

I have done as requested. I didn't find any of the files you listed. I noticed Spybot removed the VideoActiveX one on restart from safemode before I did the initial scans.

System seems to be running smoothly. My only concern would be the file that Bitdefender claimed it could not delete when I did the online scan. But I'm guessing it maybe is resolved now since the system is running smoothly...

On a side note, how does one become a "expert" to help others?

Read thru this forum, notice the many different infections there are and learn how to approach each one using multiple techniques.

Your log looks good, are you having any further problems? Also, I would uninstall "Spyware Terminator" as it is on the list of Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products.
