Malware INVASION! Am I clean?

I'm currently running no Spyware/Malware/Antivirus protection other than Windows XP stock firewall. BELIEVE ME, I know this is beyond stupid! But now I'm paying for my laziness (as I'm usually very good about my PC security and protection).

Anyway, after visiting a sports site yesterday and being inundated with Pop-Ups and things that locked up my Internet Explorer, I was left with several nasty Malware/Spyware apps installed.

I ran all the steps in the "Clean Up" guide and now before I move forward with other system maintenance, I'd like the experts here to check my logs and make sure I'm free and clear and require no further scans to remove any lingering threats.

    Thanks! ;)

Yes, I guess you did learn your lesson...:)

    Let's do this:

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the "Input script here:"
    part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    Thanks for the help Tim!

All your steps are now done with files attached. How am I looking now?

Yes you are clean...now to fix my error...

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now if you are not having any other malware issues:

Sounds great Tim. Thanks for all your help. I only have one question about something you said above. I am looking for a decent protection app. But what did you mean here:

So your saying unless I purchase it, this particular app will do me no good?

    Thanks ;)

No...we need to change that to read that unless purchased, they do not give real time protection....they will however give you very reliable back up scanning on demand. :)

    UPDATE:

One more question. What is the best, free real-time protection plus custom scanning app that does NOT effect torrent downloads?

I had Norton that would go in and remove individual items from .zip files that it deemed dangerous, with no customization options. This reeks HAVOC on my file functionality as you can imagine.

I would dump Norton using the Norton uninstall tool.

Then you might try Avast as you anti-virus program.

Yeah, Norton has been gone for awhile for the very reason I mentioned above. Hence, the problem I just had with spyware :)
